I met a fun Canadian girl (Angela) on the bus back and decided to share a room with her. We got back into Bangkok around 10pm and had a hard time finding a room. We finally found one, took a shower and went for a couple of drinks.
The next day we ran some errands, I bought a train ticket down south. Then we went to Chinatown and did some shopping. Chinatown was pretty hectic. The markets had the craziest foods I've ever seen!
That afternoon I went to the train station. It was an overnight train down to XXX. Not bad for $10. I met a pair of girls from Israel and chatted with them till bedtime. At that point a guy came round and converted our seats into bunkbeds. Fresh sheets, a great pillow and a full 8 hours sleep. Woke up the next morning and watched the sun rise. From the train stations it was 2 buses, 2 boats, 5 hours and we were finally on Koh Pha Ngan.
Met a couple from New Zealand and decided to go with them to Hat Rin beach. Hat Rin beach is famous for its 'Full Moon' parties. Its a huge party on the beach every full moon characterized by electronic music and lots of drugs. I wasn't going to be there for the full moon but enjoyed a good night out nevertheless.
After the long night out, I spent a day extremely hungover and decided that I didn't really want to spend my last week travelling on a drunken party spree. So I decided to get a water taxi to Thong Nai Pan, a beach that Angela had suggested to me.
It was the best decision I ever made. Thong Nai Pan was a smaller beach. It still had 3 bars and I managed to get a bungalow on the water for $8 a night. Met a local Thai guy who was DJing that night at one of the bars Great music and literally on the beach.
I met a wonderful Norwegian guy and went sea kayaking with him the next. The day after we met a lovely couple from San Francisco. The day after that a hilarious group of people from Holland. My last day, I went on a snorkeling trip to an island a couple of hours away. Oh and I managed to have a massage on the beach every day! It was amazing!
