Merry,
merry!
Wonderful
Christmas was had. Judite's family tradition is that everyone puts a shoe
in front of the tree.
Then in the morning, you find all your presents lined up in front of it.
So on Christmas
Eve, we all got a shoe out, placed it and the presents in front of
tree.
Christmas
day was lovely. In the morning we went to the beach. I tried boogie
boarding for the first time. Loads of fun!
The rest
of the afternoon was spent cooking and preparing for the guests. Once they all
had arrived, we started opening the gifts.
Then we had a spectacular dinner and completed it with Christmas
pudd drenched in brandy. The tradition is to light the brandy so that the
whole cake is engulfed in flames (kinda like sambuca). We tried and tried but
despite pouring more and more alcohol on it, we had a hard time getting it to
light. After about half a bottle, we finally got a flame!
On Boxing Day (Dec. 26 for the Yanks), we went to see the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. Through the smoke of the bushfires we spotted the New Zealand defense force boat, Paea that we had sailed on the weekend before.
Shash arrived soon after. Great to see her!
